Art can be an expensive hobby. You can easily spend hundreds of pounds on easels, paper, paint, brushes, pencils, pastels etc. Here are a few ideas that may help you to save a few pennies:
Sometimes I use silk flowers for my studies of flowers, but a cheaper plastic version can be just as useful. They last a lot longer than fresh flowers and can be bent and posed into different angles of your choice, although I do sketch outdoors as often as I can (at least weekly) and take lots of photographs for reference too.
Don’t buy expensive books. Use your local library instead. If you know which book you want, your local library will be able to search other libraries for the book. If it’s available the library will reserve it for you. If it isn’t available you can request it and the library will order it for you. It may cost say, 50p but that’s not much is it?
