Mike McDermott
Mike is a retired Police Officer, born and brought up in Liverpool, now residing in Billinge with his wife Pam, who is also a member of the Upholland Art Society.
He is self – taught, painting mainly in acrylics and sketching with pen and ink.
Mike has travelled extensively throughout the world, having climbed mountains in the Arctic, Greenland and the Himalayas and scuba dived in the world’s oceans. His travels have given him the opportunity to observe, photograph, paint and sketch many varied peoples, cultures and landscapes.
Mike’s interest in painting wildlife animals in their own environment has led to numerous commissions portraying clients’ pets.
He is currently exploring and developing figurative works and has recently produced several paintings of his grandchildren.
